WATCH: Chito Gascon ikinatuwa ang pagtigil ng 'Tokhang'. Accountable daw ang PNP

Chito Gascon welcomed the decision to halt "Oplan Tokhang," but the Commission on Human Rights chairperson also wants to see the police force go after murderers.
Gascon said the Philippine National Police’s discontinuation of its campaign against illegal drugs seemed to be an acknowledgment that its aggressive, violent tactics to kill the illegal narcotics trade was a failure.
The PNP should now take the time to look for those behind the extrajudicial killings, Gascon said.
The Death Toll of the War on Drugs
"Wala pang nasasampahan . . . imbestigahan din dapat (No cases have been filed . . . This should be investigated)," he said, stressing that, while the CHR will not demand for a deadline, his group wants to see results.
Earlier, the CHR lauded the halt to the drug war.

"It is a recognition that the campaign is fraught with flaws and susceptible to abuse. It underscores the need to ensure a highly professionalized and competent police force that will be cognizant of the rights of the citizenry it seeks to protect," the CHR said in a statement.
"It is an acknowledgement that there are gaps in the system and there may always be those who shall advance their own selfish interests."
