President Rodrigo Duterte and his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, led Friday’s groundbreaking of the PHP1.4 billion "Biyaya ng Pagbabago" housing project in Los Amigos, Tugbok distict. This will benefit over 900 less fortunate Davaoenos.
The project includes 21 buildings with 840 units and 68 social lots. Out of the PHP1 billion contribution of San Miguel Foundation (SMB) and the National Housing Authority (NHA), which allocated PHP24 million for the project.
This land is owned by the government of Davao.
President Duterte urge not to sell the units.
It might be small with a floor area of 42 square meters, but President Duterte reminded them that "it is difficult to acquire a house and lot these days."
The President assured that basic facilities will be provided like water and electricity.
“There were 50 of them…gibaligya na siguro ang mga yuta (maybe they already sold the lots),” the President said.
The target completion is 18 months, The president hopes to see the house and lot will be given to beneficiaries by March next year.
”This project is to help Filipinos to have a house and lot,” he said.
For her part, Mayor Duterte thanked the city government's partners in the realization of the project.
The Mayor Sara said the project is a partnership of SMF, NHA, Pilipinong May Puso Foundation and the city government.
”Aside from giving out constituents a safe and decent place to live in, this venture will give the beneficiaries access to educational and livelihood programs.
