President Duterte wants officials reported in hotline to kneel in public

President Rodrigo Duterte wants errant government workers who were named through a complaint hotline to kneel before the public to vow not to repeat their mistakes.

In a speech before businessmen in Davao City, Duterte said he would summon errant government employees and talk to them in Malacañang.

“Itong gobyerno, just give me the whole month of July and for those people who are named publicly in the 888[8] bulletin board, I would like to have a talk with you sa… individually if I can, until morning time… Because, you there, you resign or get out from your authority if you cannot get out of government service or I resign. Ako ang mag-give up,” he said.

“But I’ll try to make a second, not really a desperate move. But you have to kneel down before the public and you have to promise the people that we are serving that you have to improve on your service,” he added.

Duterte made the pronouncement as he ranted about his dissatisfaction with the government, which he branded as the people's number one oppressor.

“I would like to destroy government itself. If I had my way, I would and reinvent something more than just not the powers. We can have less powers but more efficient organization,” he said.

He also reprimanded government employees for making people go back to their offices many times to process requests without considering the “horrendous” Manila traffic. He also hit out at agencies asking to purchase thousands of computers everyday without giving quality public service.

“There’s a certain insane thing that enters even the lowest government worker. Ma-pulis ka, ma-mayor ka. You become the governor. And you think that you are somebody who can rule the universe with a flip of your finger just because you are there,” he said.

“‘Yan ang mahirap sa mga taga-gobyerno. T— ina ninyo. Ganoon kayo eh,” he added.

Duterte reiterated his advice to the public to assert their rights and complain about the government employees who were giving them a hard time.

“Report to me the name. Name the employee publicly. I will protect you. Gusto mo sipain o sampalin ko pa ‘yang empleyado sa gobyerno na messing up with you,” he said
